Description
Mount Hood is about 50 miles east of Portland Oregon and was called Wy'east by a Multnomah indian tribe. It is over 11,000 feet and is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade range. There are 12 named glaciers and snowfields and is a popular mountain for climbing. it is also a potentially active volcano in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt with only a 3 to 7 percent. The U.S. Geological Survey considers the mountain dormant.

Amazing photograph taken on Mt. Hood of the blowing snow with the sky and stars in the background. It must have been quite a challenge to get to that spot with the snow conditions. /F

Thanks! It was actually okay driving as the road is kept plowed up to Timberline Lodge. So with studded tires and 4WD it was pretty easy. Walking up behind the lodge to take this shot was a different story.
