Description
The Historic Columbia River Highway is a scenic highway between Troutdale and The Dalles Oregon and is an approximately 75-mile-long. It was built through the Columbia River Gorge between 1913 and 1922. This was the first planned scenic roadway in the United States. The historic highway was was the main thorough fare until it was bypassed by Interstate 84) being built in 1930s to the 1950s. The old two-lane road. The road is still partially marked as U.S. Route 30
The highway was designed with an elegance that took full advantage of all the natural beauty along the route and continues to be a popular destination during all seasons.
