Description
Summertime on Mt Hood is a wonderul time with lots of fields of wildflowers. Mount Hood is about 50 miles east of Portland Oregon and was called Wy'east by a Multnomah indian tribe. It is over 11,000 feet and is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade range. There are 12 named glaciers and snowfields and is a popular mountain for climbing. it is also a potentially active volcano in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt with only a 3 to 7 percent. The U.S. Geological Survey considers the mountain dormant.
