Saguaro National Park is a national park in southeastern Arizona. There are a total of 92,000 acres in two separate areas. This image was taken in the Rincon Mountain District 10 miles east of the city. The main cactus in this Sonoran Desert is the giant saguaro cactus. The saguaro grow very slowly with the first arm of a saguaro appearing between 50 and 70 years. They may live as long as 200 years. A mature saguaro may grow up to 60 feet tall and weigh up to 4,800 pounds. There are a variety of other cactus including fishhook barrel, staghorn cholla, pinkflower hedgehog, Engelman's prickly pear, teddybear cholla, and jumping cholla.
