This rhododendron was photographed at Crystal Springs Garden in Portland Oregon. I was shooting macros when I noticed this mosquito or midge hanging on this stamen. The wind started to pick up a bit and was blowing the flower about a bit and still it hung on. And when the lens is only an inch or two from the flower it's hard to stay focused, Especially when the subject disappears. So I held the stem of the flower and still the skeeter wouldn't budge.
It is an incredibly beautiful world out there. Our goal is to try to capture some of it in our images. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest we never lack for places to shoot. But never pass up the chance to visit all the many other beautiful places this world has to offer. Along with all the wonderful creatures, large and small.
