Description
These are two Russell steam engines from the early 1900s. The sparks shooting high into the sky evoked the title Dual Medusa as the spark trail as it reminds me of the snakes undulating from Medusa's head. They were widely used from the owners of small farms to large large businesses. These two engines were being ran throughout the Wooden Shoe Tulip festivals by their operators during the day. They move very slowly and are very noisy but were a wonderful sight as they chug along through the fields. But the real show came after dark. They stoke the engines using wood along with sawdust until they reach a certain heat level. Then they spew sparks high into the sky from their chimneys creating quite a light show.
