Description
The Lower Lewis River Falls are located approximately 45 minutes east of Cougar, Washington in the Gifford Pinchot Forest. The falls are much larger in person than the photos make it appear. From the several viewing platforms one can see the very powerful falls when there is a lot of water flow. At 43 feet high and 200 feet across most of the water comes from glacier melt from Mt Adams and the often very rainy conditions in the Pacific Northwest. On the left side of the falls is a churning trough which gathers most of the water flow with the remainder of the water flow creating the large cascading falls.
