Description
The St. Johns Bridge is in the St. Johns area of North Portland, Oregon spans the Willamette River. The suspension bridge spans the Willamette River and was dedicated on June 13, 1931.
The bridge has two 408 feet tall Gothic towers, and a total length of 2,067 feet. The surrounding Cathedral Park was named after the Gothic Cathedral-like of the bridge towers.
And from certain areas you get Mt Hood in the background. Mount Hood is about 50 miles east of Portland Oregon and was called Wy'east by a Multnomah indian tribe. It is over 11,000 feet and is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade range. There are 12 named glaciers and snowfields and is a popular mountain for climbing. it is also a potentially active volcano in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt with only a 3 to 7 percent. The U.S. Geological Survey considers the mountain dormant.
