Description
More ruffling and preening for the camera but forgot to clean his feet. Still covered in blood from a hunt. This snowy owl was photographed at Damon Point in Ocean Shores, Washington during the irruption year. This was shot in late February of 2012.
The snowy owl is a large, white owl that are found Arctic regions in North America and Eurasia. The males at maturity are mostly all white with females have more areas of black. They are diurnal meaning they hunt during the day. The yellow eyes are also a sign that these birds hunt during the day. The darker colored eyes of owls indicate they are nocturnal hunters.
