Description
This was taken on 8/4/2018. The weather in the Pacific Northwest has been pretty wild this summer. Very hot and dry conditions have created many wildfires east of Mount Hood. But on this day there were clouds that brought sudden showers and then quickly disappeared. Which these clouds did. An hour later and the skies were mostly clear again.
Mount Hood is about 50 miles east of Portland Oregon and was called Wy'east by a Multnomah indian tribe. It is over 11,000 feet and is the highest point in Oregon and the fourth highest in the Cascade range. There are 12 named glaciers and snowfields and is a popular mountain for climbing. it is also a potentially active volcano in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is considered the Oregon volcano most likely to erupt with only a 3 to 7 percent. The U.S. Geological Survey considers the mountain dormant.
